Business Development

The Business Development Committee meets at 8:30 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month at Digital Bridges.  

GOAL: We will work to optimize the community’s ability to expand the customer base, encourage investment and support business development by facilitating open discourse, hosting training opportunities, development new programs and improving access to information.

Key Initiatives:

Existing Business Support – The current economic climate makes outreach efforts to existing businesses vital to the stabilization and sustainability of the local economy.

  • Conduct a review of business support resources in order to  identify and address any voids in the community
  • Promote and expand the scope of the “shop local” ethic be
  • Develop shop local/Chamber member business loyalty card program

Community PlanningBefore successful activities and goals can be identified, a clear understanding of Milledgeville-Baldwin County’s future must be established. This can be accomplished through market analysis, the study and aggregation of community planning documents, and discussion based on the “2010 Knight Soul of the Community” report.

Identification of Market Opportunities – Through the committee’s examination of the current psychographics and economic forecasting for Milledgeville-Baldwin County we will be able to identify and devise a strategy to fill gaps within the local marketplace via:

  • communication plans
  • retail recruitment and
  • cultivation of talent
