The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Recovery & Resiliency Task Force releases the following statement:
While we look forward to the day where our community begins to look and feel like the place that we know and love, it is imperative to remember that we all play a role in this recovery process. Our lives have been disrupted in a way that most of us have never experienced before and it can be hard to navigate when our daily routines are thrown into confusion. However, we cannot forget that it is up to each of us in our community, to decide how we respond to these challenges. We must remember that our choices affect not only us, but our friends, neighbors, employers, coworkers, and even those we may never know. It is important that we respect social-distancing guidelines, wear masks in public, and continue to limit our exposure to others whenever possible. Our community is currently at a crossroads. It is crucial that our businesses begin the process of reopening, but we must prioritize the safety of those around us to avoid succumbing to the further spread of this pandemic. The goal is to recover sustainably, not rapidly. If we become complacent or rush the process, we are putting these businesses at risk of extended closures and losses. You are the key to this recovery. Choose respect, act responsibly, and find safe ways to support our local businesses, institutions, and organizations. Let’s move forward in solidarity and emerge from this trial with grace and resilience.
